Spontaneous Dimensional Reduction in Short-Distance Quantum Gravity?

Several lines of evidence suggest that quantum gravity at very short distances may behave effectively as a two-dimensional theory. I summarize these hints, and offer an additional argument based on the strong-coupling limit of the Wheeler-DeWitt equation. The resulting scenario suggests a novel approach to quantum gravity at the Planck scale.

Completeness and Optimality Preserving Reduction for Planning

Traditional AI search methods search in a state space typically modelled as a directed graph. Prohibitively large sizes of state space graphs make complete or optimal search expensive. A key observation, as exemplified by the SAS+ formalism for planning, is that most commonly a state-space graph can be decomposed into subgraphs, linked by constraints. We propose a novel space reduction algorith...

System ST β - reduction and completeness Christophe

We prove that system ST (introduced in a previous work) enjoys subject reduction and is complete for realizability semantics. As far as the author knows, this is the only type system enjoying the second property. System ST is a very expressive type system, whose principle is to use two kinds of formulae: types (formulae with algorithmic content) and propositions (formulae without algorithmic co...

NP-completeness Proof: RBCDN Reduction Problem

Suppose {R1, . . . , Rk} is the set of all possible regions [?] of graph G. Consider a k-dimensional vector C whose i-th entry, C[i], indicates the number of connected components in which G decomposes when all nodes in Ri fails. Then, region-based component decomposition number (RBCDN) of graphG with region R is defined as αR(G) = max1≤i≤k C[i]. Suppose the RBCDN of G with region R is αR(G). If...

Spontaneous Reduction and Assembly of Graphene oxide into Three-Dimensional Graphene Network on Arbitrary Conductive Substrates

Chemical reduction of graphene oxide (GO) is the main route to produce the mass graphene-based materials with tailored surface chemistry and functions. However, the toxic reducing circumstances, multiple steps, and even incomplete removal of the oxygen-containing groups were involved, and the produced graphenes existed usually as the assembly-absent precipitates. Herein, a substrate-assisted re...
